About ScreenSync

Your media, meticulously tracked.

Important Notice: Open BETA

Welcome to the ScreenSync Open BETA! Our foundational library (starting at 3,474 items) was bulk-migrated from our founder's personal database. We have now expanded the library beyond 5,000 items, with only 2 unverifiable movies and 9 TV shows with unverifiable episodes.

The primary goal of this Open BETA is for users to test the functionality of the website, highlight bugs, and recommend missing features. We are also looking for verified run times for unverifiable items - so if you come across movies or TV episodes with unverified run times and you can provide evidence of a verified runtime, please get in touch!

What is ScreenSync?

ScreenSync is a next-generation media tracking platform built for viewers who care about accuracy. Whether you are cataloging your all-time favorite movies, tracking your progress through a massive TV series, or exploring interconnected franchises, ScreenSync provides a clean, personalized library to manage your digital watch history.

Why We Exist

If you've used other media trackers, you've likely encountered "database drift"—episodes that don't actually exist, missing runtime data, duplicate entries, or shows that end up permanently stuck in the wrong status. These platforms often rely on unmoderated crowdsourcing, which leads to messy, unreliable libraries.

ScreenSync was built to solve this. While we pull initial metadata from vast public APIs like TheTVDB, we don't just accept it blindly. Every piece of media requested by our users passes through a strict administrative curation engine. We manually resolve conflicts, prune phantom episodes, and ensure that what you track exactly matches reality.

The "Precision Verified" Standard

To guarantee the highest level of tracking accuracy, we introduced the Precision Verified standard. When you see our badges across the site, it represents a data-lock guarantee.

Precision Verified Badge Precision Verified Tick

Approximate vs. Exact Data
When a show or movie is first added, its runtime is APPROXIMATE. This is an estimate pulled from external APIs and rounded to the nearest minute. We do not consider this verified until our curation team manually sets the exact runtime down to the second.

What does it take to become Precision Verified?

  • For TV Shows: The series must be either "Ended" with all episodes verified, OR "Active" with all currently aired episodes carrying a verified runtime.
  • For Movies: The film must be officially "Released" and have a verified runtime.

How to Spot Verified Content
The main "Precision Verified" badges shown above appear clearly on main media pages and in search results for content that meets our strict standard. Additionally, you will see granular indicators within episode lists:

  • Episode Title
A double tick at the end of an episode title means that specific episode's runtime has been precision verified down to the second. Episodes without this tick still require manual confirmation.
  • Season 1
A season tick indicates that every single aired episode within that specific season has been completely verified.

A Note on Accuracy: Precision Verified runtimes are sourced from DVD, Blu-Ray, streaming platforms, or original TV broadcasts, and include all start/end credits and "previously on" recaps. Because runtimes can differ slightly between platforms (e.g., a streaming version vs. an original broadcast), our verified times represent the most accurate source available to us at the time of curation. It is an "as accurate as possible" standard.

Our Roadmap

ScreenSync is actively growing. Here is our roadmap as we transition from our initial build to a full public launch:

Phase 1: Closed Beta

February 2026 - May 2026

  • Bug Hunting & Optimization: Working alongside our early users to test features, report bugs, and refine the core website foundations.
  • Mass Data Verification: Scrubbing and individually verifying the initial bulk-imported library to resolve migration errors. We will not move to Phase 2 until this existing data is confirmed.
  • Deployment of the Admin Curation Engine and TVDB API integration.

Phase 2: Open Beta (Current Phase)

Launched May 2026

  • Scaling the Database: Expanding the data to a much larger value, verifying new items as they are added by the admin team.
  • User "Sync Proposals" allowing the community to suggest data corrections directly from media pages.
  • Expansion of user social features (bios, location, social links).
  • Enhanced Discovery Engine for tailored media recommendations.
  • Introduction of Franchise and Collection tracking.

Phase 3: Full Launch

Target Media Count for Full Launch: 10,000 Items

  • Complete optimization for mobile devices, with the possibility of a dedicated mobile app.
  • Integration of sustainable AdSense and locally sourced advertising.
  • Shareable "User Cards": A digital, passport-style card showcasing your viewing habits to share across social media, alongside embeddable widgets for your own website.
  • Advanced library statistics to break down your watch history.
